Addmotor’s latest electric trike to enter the market is the GREATTAN L. Unlike Addmotor’s previous electric trike models, this one features a dedicated passenger seat.
Also equipped with a backrest and extra storage space, the GREATTAN L trike makes a great fit for families. But it’s also built up in other aspects. This makes it a versatile electric trike for commuting, running errands and making riders ditch their car entirely.

Built-in Passenger Seat
One of the standout features of Addmotor’s GREATTAN L passenger electric trike is the built-in rear seat. This seat is about 23” wide and almost 13” long, which is spacious enough for an adult passenger, or two children.
It also comes with a backrest, armrest, and even a footboard with extra footpegs. The footpegs are almost half the standover height.
These features make it easy for seniors and people with limited mobility to climb into the passenger seat. Children and seniors can easily hold onto the armrest and climb aboard without too much supervision.
What’s more, the passenger seat rack also supports other accessories. Riders can install safety belts, harnesses and even storage bags and containers. The passenger seat brings in a lot of possibilities.

The GREATTAN L electric trike supports Addmotor’s signature 48V 20Ah batteries. These are UL2271-safety-certified and the dual configuration provides over 130+ miles on a single charge (at PAS level 1).
Both battery packs are identical and consist of original Samsung 50E 21700 Li-Ion cells. These have a high power output and a guaranteed lifetime of up to 500 charge cycles.
The battery enclosures are also IPX6-rated and users can easily secure them via a special key. Both batteries support the same charger and it takes around 8-10 hours to fully recharge them.
Motor
Coupled with a 750W-rated rear-mounted motor, the GREATTAN L provides a significant amount of power.
The motor can run continuously at 750W with the ability to top out at 1,400W in short bursts. It also has a maximum torque pull of 90Nm to climb steep hills or gain momentum from a complete stop.
High Payload Capacity
As a heavy-duty passenger trike, the GREATTAN L Trike has a significantly high weight capacity of over 500 lbs. Also, unlike other passenger electric trikes, the GREATTAN L splits this weight capacity into the front and rear seats.
Essentially, the GREATTAN L can support a rider as heavy as 250 lbs along with a passenger of equal weight. It can also support a driver with cargo at the same weight limit.

Bike Frame
With a bulky 7020 Aluminum alloy frame, the GREATTAN L isn’t as lightweight and compact as its competitors. On the flip side though, the bulk of the frame gives a lot of strength and heft to this passenger electric trike.
Size and Weight of the GREATTAN L
For reference, the trike is over 82.7” long, 36.6” wide, and 48.6” tall (at maximum handlebar height). In terms of weight, it’s about 152.1 lbs heavy, which is just about the weight of an average adult.
So unlike other electric trikes, the bike frame is much stronger and more durable. It can hold its own against minor impacts and keep the rider and passenger safe.
On top of that, the heavier frame helps lower the center of gravity and minimizes the chances of the trike falling over.
However, it’s wider than 32”, meaning riders can’t drive it inside most indoor spaces. Also, it’s much heavier to lift alone, so people will need an extra hand trying to lift it into a truck or carry it up a flight of stairs.
Ergonomic Features
The large size and weight of the GREATTAN L dual-battery electric trike can be somewhat of a compromise. That said, it does make up for it with several features that improve ergonomics and rider experience.
Step-Through Frame
For instance, the step-through frame is always a welcome addition. Addmotor’s swan-inspired step-through frame is stylish and accessible. It has a low standover height of 17.3” and riders can even climb into the eTrike via the foot pedals (in case 17.3” is too difficult).
Extra Wide Saddle with Backrest
Besides that, the eTrike has a fully adjustable and well-padded saddle. It helps to absorb impacts and minimize discomfort due to pressure points.
The saddle also has an adjustable backrest so riders can stay upright to avoid injuries and bad posture.
Wide and Adjustable Handlebars
The GREATTAN L passenger electric trike supports riders within a height range of 5’2” – 6’4”. But even if riders don’t fall into this category, they can still find a comfortable fit thanks to the fully adjustable handlebars and saddle.
As such, the GREATTAN L features a rotatable handlebar stem with a locking mechanism. Riders can easily adjust this without any extra tools.
Also, the 28.54” wide U-shaped handlebars significantly overhaul ergonomics. They allow the rider to stay in an upright position. This helps reduce wrist pain and other injuries, provided it’s adjusted to fit the rider.
Groupset
When it comes to the non-electrical components, the GREATTAN L has quite the selection.
For the brakes, the GREATTAN L has triple Tektro mechanical disc brakes with 180mm rotors on all three wheels.
As for the gear system, it has everything from SHIMANO. This means a SHIMANO SIS Index 7-Speed freewheel, a TOURNEY TY300 derailleur and TOURNEY right thumb shifters.
These are pretty decent setups and more than good enough for a passenger electric trike.
The suspension system on the GREATTAN L Trike includes a front fork only. It doesn’t have shock absorbers on the rear wheels.
Also, this Addmotor electric trike consists of a rear differential and parking brake.
Electrical System
Addmotor electric trikes are always presented with their latest EB 2.0 system. This is Addmotor’s proprietary electrical system. It encompasses everything from the motor controller to the mid-axis torque sensors.

Compared to other electric trikes, the GREATTAN L has a wider wheelbase. This comes in handy as it helps improve stability and distribute loads much more evenly.
